What problems can porcelain veneers fix?

Veneers can be the perfect answer to correcting chipped teeth, misshapen teeth, discoloured teeth and also rotated teeth. They can also correct gaps in your teeth when braces or invisalign may not be appropriate. A veneer may also be a better alternative to a crown if the affected tooth is strong and healthy. Porcelain veneers can also improve:
  • Chipped and Damaged Teeth - Veneers can effectively cover up any chips or damage to your teeth. They will drastically improve the look of the smile.
  • Crooked Teeth - Veneers can reduce the size of gaps between the teeth and make them appear straighter. They're an extremely fast treatment for perfect, straight teeth.
  • Worn Down Teeth - Veneers can make worn down teeth appear brighter and fuller in the mouth, restoring your smile!
  • Gaps Between Teeth

How Long do Porcelain Veneers Last?

Typically, you can expect porcelain veneers to last at least 10 years, but regular upkeep is required to ensure they last as long as possible. Porcelain veneers can chip quite easily, often when a tooth is knocked by a mug or cracks when eating hard food. If you have porcelain veneers, you will be able to eat and drink as normal, but it is best to be conscious of the fact they are fragile.

Your dentist will give you the best tips to maintain your veneers. WIth proper maintenance and care, some porcelain veneers can last for up to 20 years. Some basic tips include:

  • Ensure good oral health - regular brushing and flossing is just as important with veneers as for natural teeth.
  • Minimise food and drink which could stain your natural teeth - these include sodas, red wine, tea and coffee. Smoking can also stain the teeth. Your porcelain veneers won't stain like your natural teeth so they may not continue to match the rest of your smile.
  • Protect your veneers with a gumshield if you play sport such as Rugby, Hockey or Football.
  • Avoid grinding your teeth - this can cause damage to your veneers
Procedure

Porcelain Veneers Procedure

Your porcelain veneers will be made by an experienced dental technician in our cutting-edge dental lab, using the latest technology and strongest materials, allowing them to be made extremely thin. You will typically require multiple visits to the dentist. To start your treatment, please book a consultation with one of our veneers dentists.

Your dentist will thoroughly inspect your mouth to check for any existing fillings. To ensure the veneer sits naturally in line with your existing teeth, a small amount of the natural tooth will need to be removed. You may require a numbing treatment beforehand or, if you are an anxious patient, dental sedation is available from our consultant anaesthetist. Your tooth may also need to be built up with a filling before the veneer can be applied, this will increase the length of your treatment.

Your dentist will make an impression of your teeth with a putty-like material. Your veneers are then custom-ordered from our dental lab, using these impressions to perfectly match your teeth and desired outcome.

When you next visit your dentist, they will glue your porcelain veneers to your teeth. Veneers need to be properly looked after to last as long as possible. Your dentist will advise how best to look after your veneers, and will advise regular check-ups and hygeine appointments to promote overall dental health.

Veneers Reviews

"I have always suffered with a lack of confidence with my smile I met Dr Shobna Chauhan who was the most pleasurable and professional experience I have ever received within healthcare... We prepared an appropriate treatment plan and discussed the various options for treatment for veneers and with confidence Shobna was able to share her honest and professional opinion. I am so impressed with the results... Shobna is not the one to rush her decisions and will take her time with you to prepare the best smile! I continuously receive compliments about my smile and I have so much confidence in myself it was an amazing experience overall and I would highly recommend Shobna and her team if you want outstanding results 5*"

"I had treatment at the Edgbaston Smile Clinic to fix two front teeth that were damaged due to grinding.  The veneers I had fitted are brilliant - they look so natural. I'm really pleased with the result and the quality of care and attention provided. I also followed Shobhna's advice that 'building up' some worn down molars would avoid further damage from night time grinding. This preventative treatment has worked really well - I'm delighted."

"The staff were super friendly and the service was on time. I was handled by Dr Shobhna. She was really nice and explained my condition in details. I had a chipped back tooth and she gave me several alternatives that I could do. She even gave a free x-ray so she could analyse better. Really recommend this place!"

"Dr Shobhna and her assistant are brilliant. Dr Shobhna provides you the best advices on how to improve your smile. Most of the clinics tend to overcharge you - as many in London. Pricing is reasonable at Edgbaston Smile Clinic. Best results at an affordable rate. Winning."
